Man with ties to Guelph dies in quake

A Kitchener woman is mourning the death of a U-N worker killed in last week’s earthquake in Haiti.

Julia Rosien was a friend and former co-worker of James Coates from Newfoundland.

She tells 570 News James had a thirst for adventure.

The two worked together for almost a year at a Guelph company in 2006.

16 Canadians have now been confirmed dead, over 300 are still unaccounted for.

A funeral service was held Wednesday for Elmira’s Yvonne Martin.

She was the first confirmed Canadian casualty of the January 12th quake.
