Cambridge residents face tax hike

Cambridge residents may face a property tax increase of 3.77 per cent this year.

That would mean over 36 dollars more for the average homeowner.

The Budget Task Force started with an almost nine per cent increase in September.

On Thursday, council will start looking at any possible changes.

The budget will be approved on March 1st.

Task Force Chair, Gary Price tells 570 News to bring it lower than the 3.77 per cent they would have to make some service cuts.

He says this budget is pretty much the same as last year’s, with no growth items or staff being added.

Last year, residents were hit with a 1.9 per cent tax increase.
