Kitchener’s firefighters are adjusting to a new 24-hour shift.
Since January 1st, almost 200 firefighters in the city have been working two 24-hour shifts per week, with two days off in between.
They say it leaves them better rested and less likely to take sick days.
Steve Jones, President of the Kitchener Professional Fire Fighters Association, tells the Record, the newly formed shifts could also save the city money, with fewer sick days and workplace injury claims.
