It looks like Christmas came after all, for retailers in Canada, but Santa arrived late.
The final numbers aren’t in yet, but preliminary reports on retail sales suggest consumer confidence is slowly coming back.
In the United States, sales rose almost nine percent during the week of Christmas.
Here in Waterloo Region, for at least one retailer, business boomed after the holiday.
Stu Gibson with Gibson Sound and Vision in Waterloo says sales shot up substantially on Boxing Day.
Big ticket items were big sellers, like a 42 inch Samsung Plasma TV for $599.
Gibson says they sold 75 in an hour and a half.
The lineups are just one more sign Canadians are more hopeful about the future of the economy.
