Long time hockey volunteer carrying torch

A long time volunteer with the Kitchener Minor Hockey Association gets to carry the Olympic torch on Sunday.

81-year-old Pat Doherty is the final torch bearer on the Kitchener leg, he will light the cauldron at Kitchener City Hall.

He will carry the torch in a golf cart, while his daughter Kathy drives.

Doherty suffered a serious heart attack back in late November.

The two men he credits with saving his life will also share in the moment with him.

They performed CPR on Doherty.

570 News is live on location at city hall from 4 until 8-pm Sunday for the arrival of the Olympic torch.
