By Ariel Deutschmann

RCMP in Iqaluit say they believe to have found the remains of missing 18-year-old University of Waterloo student, Ambar Roy.

A local hunter had reported spotting male human remains at a site near Un Named Lake, Nunavut, on Saturday afternoon.

The location of the remains were found on the northern end of the lake, which is 1.5 kilometres away from the Apex River Bridge.

Roy, who went missing on March 13, 2019, was last seen being dropped off at the Apex River Bridge.

Based on the location of the site, the remains have been turned over to the coroner's office for confirmation and further examination.

Iqaluit RCMP says they have also notified Roy's parents about the discovery.

More to come.
