Police investigating weapons incident in Waterloo’s university district (update)

An investigation is ongoing after a weapons incident in Waterloo on Friday night. 

Regional Police responded to reports of an individual with a firearm in the area of University Avenue West and Hazel street around 8:40 p.m. on Friday. 

Witnesses said a man was walking in the area when he pulled out a firearm before putting it in his waistband and continuing to walk away.

The suspect is being described as a brown man, around 6 feet tall with a slim build. He was last seen wearing shiny black puffer jacket.

The investigation is ongoing and with additional information is asked to contact police or crime stoppers.
