An Elmira-based restaurant will be closing its doors permanently after serving the community for 24 years.

In a statement, At The Crossroads Family Restaurant says they have been hit hard by the pandemic during an already vulnerable time.

In a social media post, owners Anton and Julie Heimpel are also thanking people for their support and patronage over the years.

“We have such wonderful memories of our years At The Crossroads; of faithful customers, incredible staff, and wonderful times together. We will carry those memories with us as we figure out how to move forward without the restaurant.”

The restaurant had previously said it was shutting down temporarily on March 23, in response to the COVID-19 situation.

Their last day of business was on March 22.
