The Aud hosts cheerleading competition

Cheerleaders from all across the province are bringing their peppy skills to the region.

The Aud is hosting the Cheer Evolution Ontario Championships this weekend.

The event is bringing over 200 teams and more than 3500 athletes to Waterloo Region. While most of the competitors are from Ontario, there are two teams competing from New Jersey.

The winner will be crowned as the provincial champion. Athletes participating can also win invitations to the Canadian Finals and the Canadian Face Off in Niagara.

There will also be bids awarded to high qualifying teams for The Cheerleading World Championships in Orlando.

The event continues into the evening.
