Some City of Kitchener facilities open Monday

Monday, Feb.18 is Family Day. To celebrate, Kitchener Utilities will be hosting a Family Skating Party taking place at the Kinsmen and Kiwanis Arenas at The Aud from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Grab your skates and bring the whole family along for this free event. Be sure to mark the occasion with a complimentary souvenir photo taken at the Kitchener Utilities photo booth.
There are plenty of Family Day themed events and activities taking place across the city this holiday Monday. A family swim will be taking place Breithaupt Community Centre from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Bridgeport Community Centre will be hosting a family skating party and dance from 2-4 p.m., weather permitting. Forest Heights Community Centre will be offering games, activities, including an outdoor skate from 1-3 p.m. and Forest Heights Pool will be offering a family swim from 2:30-4 p.m.
The outdoor rink in Carl Zehr Square will be open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
At Kitchener City Hall, the Bring on the Sunshine Festival will be taking place on Sunday, Feb. 17 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. The event is hosted in partnership with the African Canadian Association of Waterloo Region (ACAWRA), Kitchener-Waterloo Multicultural Centre, and the City of Kitchener, in honour of Black History Month. The festival celebrates African culture, as well as community and family. Enjoy food, music and activities for the whole family.

Facility closures
Some City of Kitchener facilities are open as usual. However, offices at Kitchener City Hall will be closed on Monday, Feb. 18 for the statutory holiday. Services normally offered by staff will be available again on Tuesday, Feb. 19 at 8:30 a.m. The building itself will remain open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. as it does on all holidays and weekends.
KITCHENER MARKET
The Kitchener Market international food court will be closed as usual on Monday, Feb. 18. The International Food Court will reopen on Tuesday, Feb. 19 at 8 a.m.
KITCHENER PUBLIC LIBRARY
All Kitchener Public Library locations will be closed on Monday, Feb. 18. All branches will reopen on Tuesday, Feb. 19 to resume their regular hours.
POOLS
All pool facilities will be closed Monday, Feb. 18, except Breithaupt Community Centre, Forest Heights Pool, and Lyle Hallman Pool, which will be open for scheduled family swims.
Lyle Hallman Pool will also be open on Monday for regular morning swims and fitness classes.
COMMUNITY CENTRES
Centreville Chicopee Community Centre, Chandler Mowat Community Centre, Downtown Community Centre, Mill Courtland Community Centre, Rockway Centre and Williamsburg Community Centre will be closed on Monday, Feb. 18 for Family Day.
Breithaupt Bridgeport Community Centre, Country Hills Community Centre, Forest Heights Community Centre, Kingsdale Community Centre, Stanley Park Community Centre, and Victoria Hills Community Centre will be open for Family Day events and activities on Monday, Feb. 18.

THE AUD and ARENAS
On Monday, Feb. 18 The Aud & Arenas will be open for rentals. However, the administration office at The Aud will be closed.
The Activa Box Office at The Aud is open at noon in advance of the KW Titans basketball game which starts at 2 p.m.
The Lyle S. Hallman walking track at Activa Sportsplex is open at 7 a.m.

BUDD PARK INDOOR FACILITY
Budd Park indoor facility will be open for scheduled rentals on Monday.
