18-year-old man killed in crash on Lobsinger Line (update)

By CityNews Kitchener Staff

Waterloo Regional Police say an 18-year-old Mitchell man has died after a collision on Lobsinger Line, east of Heidelberg.

It happened around 6 a.m. Thursday.

“When we arrived, a young man was found deceased outside his motor vehicle,” Sergeant Mark Hammer told 570 NEWS.

Police said a pick-up truck lost control, entered a ditch, and rolled over.

The driver was ejected from the vehicle, and pronounced dead at the scene. Police said he was not wearing a seatbelt.

A second vehicle was indirectly involved in the crash, as it hit some debris while passing by.

Police say some debris then hit a gas line, causing a gas leak in the area.

Lobsinger was closed between Durst Road and Martin Creek for the investigation.

It reopened around 2 p.m. on Thursday.

The investigation is ongoing.
