The body of a missing woman from Waterloo Region has been found in B.C., Saturday.
22-year-old Jacqueline “Jacqui” McDermott, originally from Kitchener, went missing Oct.1 after attending a yoga retreat but left a short time after it began. Her vehicle was later found broken down near Merritt B.C., and she hadn't been heard from since.
In a Facebook post, Jacqui's mom, Nathalie St. Maurice shared the news of her daughter's passing.
RCMP said in a release Sunday, that the body of a missing woman has been found, however, they did not clarify the woman's age or identity.
“Although a full determination has yet to be made, RCMP do not believe that criminality was involved in the woman's sudden death,” the release stated. “The BC Coroners Service has been notified and has launched a concurrent fact-finding investigation into the woman's death.”
The news comes after Jacquline's parents flew to B.C., to aide in the search for their missing daughter.
Last week, RCMP said they weren't ruling anything out in their search efforts.
