‘Nothing has been ruled out’: RCMP continue to search for missing woman from Waterloo Region

By Erin Anderson

Search efforts are ongoing in British Columbia for a 22-year-old woman from Waterloo Region.

RCMP continue to look for answers in the disappearance of Jacqueline McDermott.

A mounties spokesperson confirmed to CityNews 570 that McDermott is originally from the Kitchener area.

“Our investigation is a priority and while we have yet to determine where she is or what may have happened, nothing has been ruled out,” wrote RCMP Cpl. Madonna Saunderson in an e-mail statement.

McDermott has not been seen or heard from since last Thursday and her vehicle was later found broken down on a highway near Merritt, BC.

She was in the area as she was attending a yoga retreat, but left a short time after it began.

Despite extensive searches, RCMP said no sign of McDermott has been found yet.

McDermott's mother, Nathalie St-Maurice, took to social media to appeal for help in finding her daughter.

“My daughter is missing and time is of [the] essence,” wrote St-Maurice. “Our hearts are shattered.”

A GoFundMe to help find McDermott has surpassed $42,000.
