Franklin Boulevard bridge re-opening pushed back

By Mark Pare

The Franklin Boulevard bridge in Cambridge will not be opening back up at the end of the month.

The MTO says it is because of the weather the region has been getting.

“Weather permitting, the new bridge is now expected to be open to traffic by mid-December 2018,” they confirmed to 570 NEWS Saturday night, “The remaining project work is anticipated to be fully completed by the end of December 2018.”

The bridge closed for demolition and re-construction in May.

Phase 2 of the project is scheduled to begin in 2019, which will see Highway 401 expanded to 10 lanes through Cambridge.
