Cambridge girl, 13, receives explicit texts from Sudbury man; police lay charges

By Erin Anderson

A disturbing report from a parent that their 13-year-old daughter was receiving sexually explicit text messages from an adult man has led to charges, and police are worried there may be more victims.

The Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) started investigating in July after they were contacted by the concerned parent who discovered their child was receiving explicit texts from a man.

Investigators with WRPS’ Cybercrime Internet Child Exploitation Unit reportedly determined a 36-year-old from Greater Sudbury was behind the texts and luring the youth.

A search warrant was carried out Sept. 10 at a residence on Copper Cliff, with help from Greater Sudbury Police, and multiple digital devices were seized.

The accused has been identified as 36-year-old Leslie Kiddle, who uses the online handle Ace Kiddle.

Kiddle has been arrested and charged with child luring, making sexually explicit material available to a child, and making child sexual abuse and exploitation material. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.

Anyone with further information on the investigation is asked to contact WRPS at 519-570-9777.
