Expanded Stratford GO service to begin this week

A new option for summer travel plans starts Monday.

In an announcement back in April, Metrolinx said starting July 6 GO trains would begin heading further west with daily trips to Stratford seven days a week.

The expanded service on the Kitchener line is set to be a year round change.

It will include a morning rush hour express train weekdays from Stratford to Union Station in Toronto leaving at 6:16 a.m.

That train will return in the afternoon, leaving Union at 4:52 p.m., back in Stratford just before 7:30 p.m., with numerous stops, including in Kitchener and Guelph.

For the weekend trips along the Kitchener line, a morning trip will leave Union just before 9 a.m..

A full schedule can be found here.

This is not the first time there has been GO Train service to Stratford.

From 2021 to 2023, Metrolinx piloted service all the way to London, with stops in Stratford and St. Mary’s. That pilot ended as a result of low ridership.
