Waterloo regional police officers to attend funeral for Toronto officer killed in the line of duty

A number of officers from the Waterloo Regional Police Service will be in Toronto today to pay their respects for a fallen brother.
A contingent from WRPS is taking part in the funeral for Toronto Police Constable Marc Pinizzotto who was killed in the line of duty early in the morning on June 11.
WRPS Chief, Mark Crowell told 570 NewsRadio all off-duty officers, or those not in active deployment, are encouraged to come to the funeral, but the service will make sure there are enough officers staying in Waterloo region to keep everything safe here.
Crowell said a “significant showing” of local members went to the funeral last week for OPP Constable, Tarun Bali, killed in the line of duty near Hearst, Ontario, on June 9.
Bali worked as a City of Kitchener bylaw officer before joining the OPP.
Crowell said “it was very touching for our members to know that there was a local connection, but also to support those members of the OPP and the Bali family. And to see that outpouring of support was pretty incredible and we know it’ll be a similar one in Toronto for the Toronto Police service.”
The funeral service for Constable Pinizzotto will take place at 1 p.m. at the Toronto Congress Centre.
Members of the public have been invited to observe the funeral procession as it travels from Kane-Jerrett Funeral Home to the funeral service.
The funeral itself is not open to the general public, though – it will only include family, close community members, police services from across Canada, and emergency personnel.
