Single-vehicle Wilmot crash leads to impaired driving charges

A Wilmot teen is facing a list of charges, including those for impaired driving, after an afternoon crash in the township.

It was around 3:50 p.m. on Thursday when emergency crews were called out to a crash scene in the area of Hillfield Drive in Wilmot Township.

It’s alleged that the report to police described a man “driving recklessly” before crashing into a snowbank.

Officers arrived on scene and promptly arrested the driver, a 19-year-old Wilmot man.

Despite his vehicle sustaining “significant front-end damage,” police said no physical injuries were reported.

The driver now faces several charges, including:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration
  • Dangerous operation
  • Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available
