Westbound Hwy. 401 reopens following serious two-vehicle crash

All westbound lanes on Highway 401 at Highway 6 South were closed due to a serious collision.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call for the two-vehicle crash just before 8 a.m.

A spokesperson with the service’s Highway Safety Division, Sergeant Kerry Schmidt, said one of the vehicles involved in the crash ended up rolling over in the ditch. The driver had to be extricated from their vehicle and taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The investigation is still ongoing, but after several hours, the provincial thoroughfare was reopened just after 2:00 p.m.
