Stolen vehicles recovered after a pair of break-ins and traffic stop in Kitchener

Waterloo Regional Police have recovered two stolen vehicles and laid charges against a Kitchener man after two residential break-ins.
Police say on July 17, members of the Direct Action Response Team (DART) were on a proactive patrol in the area of Ardelt Avenue in Kitchener after a Mercedes Benz was stolen during a break-in. A photo of the suspect was obtained through CCTV footage.
A while later police stopped the driver of an Acura that had no rear lights.
Police arrested the driver after determining they were the same suspect in the Mercedes Benz theft. Through the investigation police found that the Acura was also stolen in a break-in.
The accused, a 42-year-old man from Kitchener, is facing a list of charges, including
- Break and Enter and Commit Indictable Offence;
- Two counts of Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000;
- Possession of Schedule One Substance (Cocaine);
- Theft of Motor Vehicle; and
- Multiple offences under the to the Highway Traffic Act.
The investigation is ongoing and more charges are anticipated. The accused was held for a bail hearing.
