WRPS investigating afternoon break-and-enter in Cambridge

By Justin Koehler

Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) is investigating a residential break-and-enter that took place in Cambridge last week.

It happened Apr. 17 at a home on Morningside Drive when an unknown number of suspects smashed a window, made their way into the home, and stole property from the residence.

Police are asking neighbours from around that area to check any home surveillance systems and security cameras between the hours of 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Officers with the WRPS Break, Enter, and Vehicle Theft Team are now asking that residents throughout the region to consider taking precautions to ensure the safety of themselves, their home, and their belongings.

Some extra safety steps include:

  • Keep doors and windows locked, even when home
  • Keep valuables out of common areas and out of plain sight
  • Install audible noise alarm systems
  • Secure residences with home video surveillance cameras in the front and back of the residence
  • Notify neighbours when away for an extended period and arrange to have someone check on your residence
  • Report any suspicious persons or vehicles to police

Anyone with further information on the break-and-enter is asked to call WRPS or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers.
