A morning walk through Waterloo Park won’t include a ‘gander’ at a sinister-looking fake coyote this spring.
The City of Waterloo says it’s going in a different direction this year, and the handful of 3-D plastic predators won’t be a part of that plan. The decoys were put out last year to tackle an increasing goose problem around Silver Lake, with the 8-10 coyotes rotated.
“I can confirm that the coyotes won’t be returning this season,” said a city spokesperson to 570 NewsRadio in an email.
“Parks has let me know that they are looking into some other options, and we should have some information available to share on that in a few weeks.”
Marketed as a “menacing predator replica,” featuring even a moving fur tail, the coyotes are manufactured by Chicago-based Bird-X Humane Bird Control.
They sell for around $110 each.
