A driver crashed their vehicle near the intersection of Franklin Boulevard and Avenue Road in Cambridge while city crews were cleaning up the mess left from the weekend’s snowstorm.
Police told CityNews Kitchener that on Monday at around 9:20 p.m. a vehicle lost control and struck a light pole on a centre median. The light fell over and blocked the north and south lanes of the intersection.
There were no injuries, officials said.
This situation happened as many city plows were out trying to clean up the snow from Sunday’s storm. Due to the collision, the intersection was closed for an hour while the pole was removed.
A 35-year-old man from Cambridge was arrested for operation while impaired, operation while impaired (blood alcohol concentration) and careless driving.
Police are asking that if anyone witnessed the incident or has dash camera footage of the collision contact the Waterloo Regional Police Services Traffic Services Unit at 519-570-9777 ext 8856.
