Kitchener Rangers late comeback thwarted by Generals, handed loss in OT

A late-comeback form the Kitchener Rangers on Tuesday night was not enough to earn two points against the Oshawa Generals.

Goals from Rangers’ forwards Christian Humphreys and Trent Swick tied the game at 3-3 late in the third period, which pushed the contest into the extra frame.

Just three minutes into the overtime period,  Generals forward Luke Torrance netted his 20th goal of the season to seal the win for the visiting team. 4-3 the final.

Swick had two goals on the night, bringing him to 25 goals on the season, tying his career high from last season with plenty of hockey left to play.

“He now has 51 points in 48 games, that’s expected of him,” said 570’s Colour Commentator Paul Fixter on Swick. “He plays top-six minutes, he’s a guy that has a really good shot, I just wish he would use it more. And then that 25 can get closer to 30, maybe 35, who knows with the games he has remining.”

The Blueshirts will now head out on another extended road trip, beginning on Friday in Kingston with a match-up against the Frontenacs.
