Regional police lay charges after cyclist struck in Waterloo

A 61 year-old man is recovering in hospital after being hit by a vehicle early Friday morning in Waterloo.

Police say around 8:30 a.m., the man was struck by a vehicle in the area of Fischer Hallman and Columbia Street. He was taken to an out-of-region hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the car, a 30-year-old woman, was not injured and has been charged with careless driving causing bodily harm and driving without insurance.

Members of the Local Traffic Services Unit are still investigating, and anyone with information or dash cam footage is asked to contact them.
