Guelph man arrested for pulling knife on employee at downtown business

A man in Guelph is facing a number of charges after pulling a knife on the employees of a business he was banned from.

According to Guelph Police, the incident took place at around 8:30 a.m. in the downtown core.

The man entered the business and was asked to leave by an employee because of his previous ban.

He then removed a small knife from his pocket and began swinging it at the employee.

The suspect fled from the business and was later located by police.

Officials say that after some investigation, they found the man had several probation orders, including ones that kept him from being in possession of certain weapons.

The 28-year-old Guelph man was charged with multiple weapons-related offences, uttering threats and 10 counts of breaching probation orders.

He’s being held for a bail hearing on Wednesday.
