Many annual festivals are making their triumphant return.
Here’s a breakdown of activities to take in:
Afro Festival
The largest celebration of African heritage in the region is taking place in Waterloo Park Saturday.
The event runs from 12 p.m. until 8 p.m. and will feature performances with traditional drumming, afrobeat music, and cultural dancing.
The event is completely free to attend, accessible, and family friendly.
The festival was created by the African Womens Alliance of Waterloo Region, a nonprofit community based organization that supports new families settling in Waterloo Region.
Kitchener Ribfest and Craft Beer Show
Come hungry and thirsty!
One of Kitchener’s most popular festivals is back this weekend – the Kitchener Ribfest and Craft Beer Show.
It’s taking place at Victoria Park all weekend and admission is free. It runs Saturday from 12 p.m. until 10 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. until 6 p.m.
Besides mouth-watering barbeque, there is a huge selection of Ontario craft beer, entertainment and even a fun-zone for the kids.
Donations to the Food Bank of Waterloo Region are being accepted.
Since 2008, over $100,000 and 17,000 pounds of food have been raised for the food bank.
