Police release photo of suspect in downtown Kitchener homicide investigation

Waterloo Regional Police are working to identify a suspect after a fatal shooting in downtown Kitchener.

On the evening of August 13, officers responded to reports of shots fired outside of a business in the Queen Street and Charles Street area.

An 18-year-old Kitchener man was found with gunshot wounds. He was taken to hospital and pronounced dead.

The suspect in the investigation is described as a Black male who was wearing white and black shoes, black pants, a dark hooded jacket with a lighter shirt underneath, and a baseball hat.

According to police, the suspect is known to frequent the plaza at 91 Queen Street South — which is where the shooting occurred. He was last seen running down Queen Street, toward Joseph Street.

Police have said the shooting is believed to be targeted and the suspect may be armed.

The homicide investigation remains ongoing and police have made an appeal for anyone with information to come forward.
