A Kitchener man was stabbed early Friday evening

Waterloo Regional Police responded to multiple reports of a stabbing in Kitchener early Friday evening. 

The incident occurred in the area of Stirling Avenue South and Charles Street East.

Two individuals are believed to have gotten into a physical altercation before leaving on foot. 

Officers located a man in the area with non-life-threatening stab wounds, who was transported to an out-of-region hospital.

Following an investigation, the victim, a 35-year-old Kitchener man, was charged with assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. 

Police are also seeking an arrest warrant for a 38-year-old Kitchener man. 

Charges include assault with a weapon, aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. 

Police believe the suspects know one another and there is no concern for public safety at this time.
