Region’s rain barrel sale returns following pandemic hiatus

The region's subsidized rain barrel sale is back after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic.
There's also a catch this time around — the discounted $40 barrels have to be pre-ordered online.
The barrels can then be picked up at the Fairview Park Mall parking lot near the ION station on May 5 or 6.
Barrels can be ordered by clicking here.
The rest of the details were contained in a news release:
This change means no long, early-morning lines to get a rain barrel before they’re gone. Supplies are still limited, so interested buyers should act soon.
The Region began offering subsidized rain barrels in 2001 as part of its water conservation programs. The 200-litre barrels come with easy-to-use attachments including a hose to connect other barrels and removable mosquito screens.
A rain barrel can also lower water bills for residents in the City of Waterloo and the City of Kitchener. These cities offer a stormwater credit for homes with a rain barrel.
