Eastwood student in running for $100K scholarship

By Blair Adams

Maya Linsley could get a big boost to her post-secondary education.

Linsley, who attends Eastwood Collegiate Institute in Kitchener, is one of the top finalists for a Loran Scholars Foundation award.

She now has a chance to win a scholarship, of up to $100,000 over four years for undergraduate studies in Canada.

The award is based on evidence of character, commitment to service in the community and leadership potential.

Linsley and the other finalists will be in Toronto on Friday and Saturday for national selections.

If not selected as a Loran Scholar, she's still eligible to receive a $5,000 finalist award.

In 2019, Meena Waseem, who attended Kitchener's Cameron Heights Collegiate Institute, won a $100,000 scholarship.
