Damage estimated at $100,000 after fire at Trinity United Church (update)

A fire has damaged the abandoned Trinity United Church in downtown Kitchener.
Waterloo Regional Police estimate damage at $100,000.
Firefighters were called to the blaze on Frederick Street around 1:30 a.m. on Thursday.
Upon arrival, both flames and heavy smoke were visible from the rear of the church.
Kitchener Fire tells 570 NEWS there were six people sleeping inside the church, they all managed to get out safely.
It also did not spread to the neighbouring YWCA building and shelter.
Fire crews also confirm that this isn't the first time a fire has erupted at the old church.
Only a few weeks ago, Kitchener Fire was called out to extinguish a fire that started in the church.
Trinity United has been empty for over a year now, so that it can be torn down to make way for a high-rise building.
The cause of the fire is still not known.
