Twenty minutes cost the Kitchener Rangers.
The Guelph Storm scored four goals in the second period, and dropped the Rangers 6-4.
Despite jumping out to a 2-1 lead after the first, Kitchener found Itself trailing 5-2 after 40 minutes.
Kitchener rebounded well though in the third, dominating the Storm, holding them to just one shot on goal – and an empty-net goal.
“I thought tonight was one of the hardest games we’ve played in the series and we still come out with a loss. That’s playoff hockey,” said McKee. “It shouldn’t be easy, it should be tough. You should have to deal with adversity. Champions are made in the playoffs, not in the regular season.”
Mario Culina struggled and was chased from the net after the fourth goal 11:20 into the second period.
“Mario’s had a bit of a tough go,” said McKee. “The message going into the third was, ‘he’s had our back all year, and it was our turn to have his’, and we came up just a little bit short.”
Logan Brown continues his torrid play in the post-season, ending the night with three assists. Joseph Garreffa had two goals in the loss.
“It’s do or die kind of,” said Garreffa of coming home to the Aud Friday. “You can’t really lose a home Game 5, so I think we’ll go out there and work hard.”
Game 5 is Friday night at the Aud, and Game 6 will be in Guelph Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m.
