Five arrested after scrap metal thefts valued over $100,000

Regional police arrested five men following an investigation into a series of large-scale scrap metal thefts, totalling over $1000,000 for a local business.

The investigation began in early January after multiple reports of thefts at a business on Goddard Crescent.

The arrests were made late at night on Jan. 22 after the five suspects were caught actively removing metal from the property.

The men, aged 22, 33, 34, 40, and 55, are all from the Greater Toronto Area and are believed to be linked to similar high-value scrap metal thefts from across Ontario.

The five have been charged with six counts of theft over $5,000, and a vehicle was also seized as offence-related property.
