Seasonal temperatures return, as the heat wave comes to an end

We have had some record breaking days, temperature wise, here in the region, but it is coming to an end.

Over the weekend we beat some old temperature records, most note worthy, on Sunday, we hit 32.2 C, which is the warmest temperature we’ve seen, this late in the year, since 1955.

“A few days ago the heat warning started when we started seeing temperatures above 30 degrees, and then today with the approaching cold front it came to an end as a change is on the way,” said Frank Seglenieks,Coordinator of the University of Waterloo weather station.

This latest heat event is considered rare for our region “we had five days over 30 degrees which is something we have only seen a times in September in the100 years of records we have in our region, so it was a pretty unique event,” said Seglenieks.

Some relief is well on its way, Seglenieks says, ” we will be getting back into the low twenties again, so it looks like we are still going to see some mild temperatures here in the first part of fall.”

Seglenieks adds that although the temperature is going to seem much cooler than the last week, we will actually be sitting at normal to slightly above normal temperatures for this time of year.
