Man charged after lengthy investigation into an Identity Lab in Kitchener

A Kitchener man has been charged after a lengthy police investigation connected to an Identity Lab.
A search warrant was executed on March 30, 2018 at a home near Fairway Road and Weber Street in Kitchener.
The Major Fraud Unit’s Organized Crime Team, the Special Response Unit, Identification Branch, and Tech Crimes Unit found a large number of identification documents, credit and debit cards, blank credit cards, break-in equipment, hard drives, a debit machine, and banking information.
Police believe the documents were altered in the suspected Identity Lab, and were used to create fake bank accounts and credit cards.
A 37-year-old man was arrested.
Alex Leger has been charged with Identity Theft, Identity Fraud, Possess Stolen Data, Use Stolen Data, and Possession of Stolen Property.
Police say the investigation is ongoing and more charges are expected.
