Peter Fonteece sentenced to one year probation

A Waterloo man who watched his wife kill herself in a Thunder Bay hotel room has been sentenced to one year probation.
Peter Fonteece pleaded guilty to criminal negligence causing death in February.
The Crown had been seeking a nine month jail sentence.
Fonteece’s 38 year old wife Yanisa took her own life by ingesting 40 to 60 sleeping pills in February of last year.
Fonteece had told the court at the sentencing hearing that he and his wife didn’t think they were doing anything illegal.
