Waterloo Region prepares to roll out its campaign aimed at protecting residents from the West Nile Virus and Lyme disease.
Both are airborne-transmitted diseases and both can be prevented if you take the proper steps.
Brenda Miller, Manager of Health Protection Investigation for Waterloo Region, tells 570 News every home in the region will receive information on how to protect themselves.
There will also be external advertising in the “Fight the Bite” campaign.
She says mosquitoes are already buzzing about, so when outside, it’s recommended you wear long sleeve shirts and apply Deet-based bug repellent.
The region will also be launching a rabies public awareness campaign next month which will stress the need to have your pet vaccinated and to stay clear of strange animals.
