Lost phone phobia has a name, medication

If you feel anxious or worry when your cell phone isn’t near by you may be a nomophobe.

A survey of 1,000 people in the United Kingdom found that 66 per cent said they fear losing or being without their phones.

Women are more concerned with being cell phone-less. The study found that 70 per cent percent of females fear losing their phones as opposed to 61 per cent of male respondents.

People between the ages of 18 and 24 are most likely to suffer from this phobia.

Nomophobes can be treated with something called ‘exposure therapy,’ in which the person starts to imagine what it would be like without a phone and then spending small amounts of time away from it.

In more serious cases, medication can be prescribed.
