Popular local Roman Catholic priest, Father Bernie Hayes, passes away

We’re learning that a well known and popular Roman Catholic priest in Waterloo Region has passed away.

The City of Waterloo and Waterloo Professional Firefighters Association tweeted out that Father Bernie Hayes died earlier this morning.

Hayes was 82.

Father Hayes was a Chaplin for the fire department and the Waterloo Regional Police Service. He was ordained in 1957.
