Wheelchair Relay

The Canadian Paraplegic Association’s (CPA) is holding it’s 5th annual Wheelchair Relay Challenge today hosted by Waterloo for the first time.

Sheila O’Neill, Regional Event Coordinator for the CPA of Ontario tells 570 News that this event is a fun way to bring awareness to the issues that people with limited mobility face on a daily basis. She says that sometimes maneuvering around sidewalks can be challenging because of the bumps and hills of uneven cement.

She also adds that those participating will have fun but shouldn’t expect the challenge to be easy.

This event is fun for the whole family with music, facepainting and much more. The fun starts at 10am with the races getting underway at 11am.

All monies raised will support programs and services in our community for people with spinal cord injury and other physical disabilities.
