Prevent getting sick: Boost Immunity Naturally – Nobody likes to get sick. The timing is usually the worst and we hear people say ”I don’t have time to get sick!” Viruses and bacteria are everywhere and when your immune system is working properly there should be no problem fighting off invaders. Boosting the immune system is not the answer as that can worsen allergies and autoimmune diseases. Creating a strong immune system that keeps you protected and does not become overactive is the answer. Take steps to avoid being exposed to and spreading germs, and support your immune system so that it can do its best in protecting us from the hundreds of viruses and other infectious agents that we’re exposed to daily. Wash your hands thoroughly with regular soap and water (avoid antibacterial soaps, which can create superbugs). Don’t touch your fingers to your eyes, nose and mouth; they are direct entry routes into the body. Drink lots of water. Dehydration suppresses immunity. Be conscious of germ spread. Use a tissue when you sneeze, or sneeze into your arm or sleeve, not into the air! Eat as healthfully as you can. Poor nutritional choices don’t provide the body with the nutrients it needs to protect us. Avoid sugar. Support a healthy immune system. Get more sun. Research shows that North Americans are deficient in vitamin D, the sunshine vitamin, which strengthens our immunity and fights infectious agents. Practice deep breathing for stress reduction. Exercise, but don’t over-exercise. Experts don’t recommend immune boosters be taken as they can have a negative effect in the body. Several conditions like allergies are associated with an already overactive immune system and immune boosters can make symptoms much worse.
