Hogweed is on the move in Waterloo Region.
A plant that has been in the area for a century is said to be spreading.
Hogweed originated in Asia and was initially used as an ornamental plant. It can make your skin itch, and eventually blister and burn.
Cam Linwood of Grand River Conservation Authority tells 570 News the poisonous plant can even cause you to go blind if it gets in contact with your eyes.
He says if you see it on your own property or on public property call the municipality and they will get rid of it as quickly as possible.
