Olive Garden set to open in Waterloo this spring

Carb lovers unite – Olive Garden is coming to Waterloo Region.
The official announcement was made on the restaurant’s social media channels reading, “Waterloo, get ready… Olive Garden is on the way!!”
The post online said the official opening date hasn’t been released yet, but they are hoping to welcome diners in the spring of next year.
Job postings on numerous websites, including on Olive Garden’s job board, and Indeed, show the company is looking to hire manager positions for a new location at 340 The Boardwalk.
That location was home to Swiss Chalet, which closed this fall following 16 years at the Waterloo location.
Recipe Unlimited acquired all of Canada’s Olive Garden locations in a deal with U.S.-based Darden Restaurants Inc. back in July 2025.
Recipe Unlimited has over 1,200 restaurant locations across Canada, with a portfolio that includes Swiss Chalet, East Side Mario’s, the Pickle Barrel and more.
