K-W Oktoberfest looking for floats for Thanksgiving Day parade

By Erin Anderson

The K-W Oktoberfest Thanksgiving Day Parade is a few months away and the festival is looking for floats to take part in the beloved fall event.

Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest (KWO) describes the annual parade as a treasured part of the Thanksgiving weekend that celebrates community, tradition, and togetherness.

There’s an open call to join this year’s procession and desired entries are large inflatables and self-propelled floats.

Pick-up trucks or cars may be used as a means of propulsion under a float or as a towing unit, but they can’t be recognizable in their standard form. Flat deck trucks and lowboy units are also discouraged.

Interested participants can request the Parade Float Application Package by contacting KWO Volunteer and Administration Manager, Carol Tucker, at carolt@oktoberfest.ca.

The contact deadline is Aug. 28 and entry fees apply.

The Bavarian festival is also seeking volunteers and sponsors for the parade, which is happening Monday, Oct. 12 starting at 9:30 a.m.
