Three charged after trespassing on construction crane in Kitchener

A group of young men are facing charges after being spotted on top of a construction crane in Kitchener on Sunday afternoon.

It was just after 3 p.m. when police responded to reports, bringing officers out to a construction site on King Street East near Ottawa Street.

Arriving just minutes after the initial report, police were able to spot the individuals on top of the crane.

It’s alleged that those men then entered a nearby 32-storey building, still under construction, through an opening available on an upper floor.

Officers searched the high-rise and eventually located three men around 4:40 p.m., hiding in a portable toilet on the 22nd floor.

The suspects have since been identified as a 20-year-old from St. Catharines, a 20-year-old from Waterdown, and a 16-year-old from Hamilton.

All three are facing charges of trespassing – enter premise where entry prohibited under the Trespass to Property Act.
