An elderly woman in Kitchener is now without three pieces of her own jewellery after a reported distraction theft that occurred just outside of her home.
It was on Thursday afternoon, around 4:00, when regional police say a Kitchener resident was approached in front of her home on Old Maple Lane by two unknown suspects.
Those suspects struck up a conversation with the victim, during which they removed two of her necklaces and a bracelet.
Those suspects then fled the area in a vehicle.
The victim, identified as a 78-year-old woman, was not physically injured during the interaction.
Police have since provided suspect descriptions of the two individuals involved in the distraction theft. The first is described as a brown woman, around 55 years old, wearing a head scarf and a long grey floral dress.
Also involved was a brown man, around 30 years old, with a thin build. He was said to be wearing a light brown jacket and white pants.
The investigation is still ongoing – anyone with information is asked to contact police at 519-570-9777, extension 6399.
