WRPS searching for suspect in armed convenience store robbery

An armed robbery at a convenience store in Kitchener is now under investigation through Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS), with officers now searching for a suspect tied to the incident.

Police said it happened in the early hours of Tuesday morning, at around 3:50 a.m., when officers were called about a robbery in the area of Westmount Road West and Westwood Drive.

They said an unknown man entered the store, confronted the store employee, held up a firearm, and demanded cash. That suspect stole the money and fled the store before police arrived.

Officers said no one was hurt during the incident. After that initial investigation, police are now searching for a suspect.

He’s described as a Black man, around 6’0″ tall, with a thin build, and long curly shoulder-length hair. He was wearing a black jacket with the hood up and black track pants at the time of the incident.

The investigation is still ongoing through WRPS’ Break and Enter, Auto Theft, and Robbery (BEAR) Unit, asking for anyone with information on the incident, as well as the identity or location of the suspect, to reach out at 519-570-9777, extension 8255.
