Truck driver charged, life-altering injuries revealed after boyfriend saved girlfriend in Guelph

Guelph Police have charged the truck driver involved in a pedestrian collision where a boyfriend pulled his girlfriend out of the path of the truck, only to be hit himself.

It happened roughly one month ago, at Stone Road and Gordon Street.

The 41-year-old truck driver from Ariss has been charged with careless driving causing bodily harm.

But police said the 18-year-old is still in hospital after all this time.

They said he was assessed at a trauma centre in Hamilton, where he was diagnosed with internal injuries described by police as “life altering,” and has already gone through several surgeries.

It was soon after 4:30 in the afternoon of February 9 when a truck was turning at the intersection, and the boyfriend pulled his 18-year-old girlfriend out of the way of the truck.

Police said he was hit though by the truck’s front bumper and front wheel.
