Environment Canada issued yellow warning for rainfall in Waterloo Region.
The weather authority is calling for 20 to 40 mm of rainfall from Tuesday night through to Wednesday. Local areas that receive thunderstorms could result in higher amounts of rain.
Significant downpours could cause flash floods and pooling on roadways. Pedestrians and drivers are asked to stay away from low-lying areas that are prone to flooding.
This comes after a particular wet weekend that left parts of Ayr and New Hamburg underwater.
Several roadways are closed around the Nith River, and led the Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) to issue flood warnings to nearby communities. Flood Warning Zone 3 for Ayr, Brantford and some portions of North Dumfries, with Zone 2 warnings across New Hamburg, West Montrose, and Paris.
Other flood warnings have also been issued across St. Jacobs, Grand Valley, and the Village of Conestogo.
GRCA stated that there are no concerns of flooding associated with the Grand River, which flows through North Dumfries.
